About
Group Analysis Pakistan

Group Analysis Pakistan (GAP) is a professional platform dedicated to advancing the practice, understanding, and accessibility of group analytic psychotherapy in Pakistan. Rooted in the principles of group analysis, GAP brings together mental health professionals, trainees, and community members to promote healing through shared group experiences.

GAP serves as the opportunity for training, clinical practice, supervision, and research in group analysis. By fostering collaborative learning and professional development, it aims to build a supportive network of practitioners who are equipped to address psychological and emotional challenges in diverse group settings.

Whether in therapeutic groups, educational environments, or organizational contexts, GAP is committed to nurturing personal growth, emotional insight, and social connection through the transformative power of group work.

Our main objective is to create a vibrant community of Group Analysis practitioners in Pakistan. To achieve this, we have formed a partnership with the prestigious Institute of Group Analysis (IGA) in London. This partnership has paved the way for the launch of Pakistan’s inaugural internationally recognised Group Analytic Psychotherapy training programme.

Who can Benefit?

The group analytic approach extends beyond individual therapy, with profound implications for various group settings and organisational practices. Its applicability spans diverse fields, including health, social services, education, and business.

How GA Works?

The group is viewed as a therapeutic agent in group analysis. The interactions and relationships within the group are used to understand and work through individual issues. The focus is on open communication within the group. Sharing ideas and emotions among members facilitates the discovery of unconscious processes and patterns. The approach emphasises the importance of group dynamics and the therapist’s role in facilitating self-reflection.

Why Group Analysis?

Group Analysis is a therapeutic approach that places a significant emphasis on the social aspects of human experience. It is designed to help individuals understand how emotional, behavioural, and psychological phenomena manifest within the context of social groups.

Analytic psychotherapy groups, when carefully constituted, have a proven track record of assisting individuals in addressing personal challenges and promoting personal growth. The Group Analytic approach extends beyond individual therapy, with profound implications for various group settings and organisational practices. Its applicability spans diverse fields, including health, social services, education, and business.

The core philosophy behind Group Analysis is rooted in the belief that as personal difficulties arise within groups, these groups provide the ideal platform for exploration, understanding, and resolution. The ultimate aim is to facilitate a healthier integration of individuals within their network of relationships.
